Don’t Waste Time! 5 Facts Until You ACHIEVE YOUR Adult Social Media

In a recently available survey done by the Pew Research Center found that 65% of most U.S. adults now use social networking sites. It is a surge of 61% from the previous year.

Why is your business still on the fence about using social media?

That has been the question that I asked myself because those folks coming on line hit the sweet spot of what an ideal customer looks like in your niche or business. The majority of the growth came from those over 30 years old. Even folks who have been indifferent to the internet generally are coming on board as 33% of these over 65 use and participate in social networking. (That is clearly a 20 percent increase from the entire year before!)

Adult social media In internet marketing, you go where your traffic is!

If you are a marketer, whether it’s bricks and mortar or the internet, you always wanted to go where in fact the masses were huddled. Not so long ago, that meant you would head to radio, TV or newspapers. The approach there was that you shot your message out in shotgun fashion and hope it hit enough interested parties that would like your product or service.

Now with the web (and especially Facebook) you can really hone in on your likely customer. If among your customer personas is women who live within 25 miles of Orlando, are married and the household income is $50,000 or even more, that is all of your message will probably hit.

Define your ideal customer and follow it!

So, the idea here’s to learn your customer persona or personas. Exactly what is a persona? Take a moment and define what/who make up your ideal customer for your product or service. This is very enlightening because if you take the time to do this, you are going to be so much farther ahead of your competition!

Give that persona a name and begin selling to it!

You have heard the term “soccer moms” right? Well, car manufacturers understood who their ideal customer was for his or her mini-vans. They then tried to sell into that market, listened to their feedback and honed their message until it resonated perfectly with that persona.

So, whether you choose a generic term or work with a name like I do with something that I sell on another site “Nate Newbie”, I refer to them and market compared to that persona.

Your takeaway out of this article…

Upfront, in the event that you aren’t using social media for the business, you are only hurting yourself, because your customers AND your competition is doing so!

If you are using social media marketing with your marketing, are you currently giving it enough (and the proper) effort?

Know and understand your customer by determining what the idea one is. Give it a name and sell to it
